No-one was more surprised than us, however, when she rocked up on mum-friendly gyrating contest Strictly Come Dancing – and then proceeded to own it. She owned it so hard, in fact, that they invited her to join the judging panel. And then she owned judging so hard that she was lured away to Britain’s Got Talent by the high-waisted dark emperor of talent shows, Simon Cowell.
The doe-eyed demi-goddess has also enjoyed a prodigious solo pop career, with hits such as The Boy Does Nothing, in which Alesha bemoans her boyfriend’s unwillingness to wash up or push a hoover around. Alesha: give us a chance, and we’ll clean your house like an obsessive-compulsive lunatic.
