"You get quite strict about wearing a corset, it's like: come on, tighter, tighter."
Why we love Carey Mulligan
Sometimes there are profiles of girls on here that, other than their ‘talent’, don’t have a lot of talent at all. Carey Mulligan is certainly not one of these girls. The list of award nominations she received for the 2009 film An Education alone will tell you this, her role being that of a 16-year-old schoolgirl in 1961 who is seduced and gets engaged to an older bloke. That will also tell you that she looks quite a bit younger for her age.
Carey had to move to Germany at the age of three for her dad’s job, which meant she had a really tough childhood of living in expensive hotels. It wasn’t until she was fourteen and back in the UK that she started looking in to acting, and went against her parents wishes for her to attend University in order to pursue an acting career. What a rebel.
She started making money out of acting when she was 18, but you are about to skim over a bunch of roles that you will not have seen her in: Pride & Prejudice, Bleak House, The Amazing Mrs Pritchard and And When Did You Last See Your Father?. See what we mean? You might have noticed her in an episode of Doctor Who, while she has since appeared in The Greatest and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps; on which she hooked up with her ridiculously named co-star Shia LeBeouf. They’re no longer together, which is hardly surprising. We mean, seriously, how do you get past a name like that?
