Why we love Cobie Smulders
We've got a shameful secret. Well, we've got lots, actually, but let's just deal with this one for the time being. We loved Willow in Buffy. We're huge fans of Neil Patrick Harris. We're even fairly partial to American sitcoms, and we enjoy a fine suit as much as the next guy. But we never really got into How I Met Your Mother, and seeing as Cobie Smulder's mainly famous for being in that show, it puts us at a bit of a disadvantage.
We'll press on. Cobie Smulders was born in the barren, savage wastes of Canada - how barren and savage is Vancouver? We're guessing it's fairly both - to an English mother and a Dutch father, which at least partly explains her second name. For bonus points, try saying it out loud in a strong Dutch accent. It's pretty funny, if you're having a boring day.
Cobie Smulders's acted in a slew of different films and TV programs – like Smallville, True Calling and The L Word - although How I Met Your Mother seems to be keeping her pretty busy at the moment.
Like most young girls, Cobie Smulders wanted to be a marine biologist growing up – something about those dolphins just pulls 'em in by the truckload – and she's still fascinated by looking at wet animals. She's a keen amateur photographer and would have built a dark room to develop her pictures were it not for the arrival of her daughter, the fantastically-named Shaelyn Cado Killam, that necessitated using the space as a nursery instead. Still. What a great name. She sounds like a Mortal Kombat boss. Cobie Smulders will also be appearing in The Hunger Games which is like Gladiators crossed with Grange Hill and features genetically engineered wasps. Obvs.
