Why we love Heidi Montag
All hail the wonder that is American reality television. Okay, so you may have to let us be a bit loose with the term ‘reality television’ but programmes like The Hills have paved the way for a new breed of celebrity; the television personality. And a lot of these personalities are female, and hot. Heidi Montag is a case in point.
After a pretty normal high school education, Heidi went to University in San Francisco and met Lauren Conrad – who was already starring in a reality series called Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. They became proper screaming “OH MY GOD” bff’s for life, (probably), and both transferred to a college in Los Angeles. MTV thought it would make a good show to follow Conrad and her friends in LA, which meant Heidi was going to get famous. Her part in the show basically involved going out with a bloke – co-star Spencer Pratt – who she eventually got engaged to, then broke it off, then got married. Following? Good.
She than married Pratt for a second time, before filing for divorce. And then calling off the divorce, and then renewing their wedding vows. You couldn’t write this stuff. Actually you could. You can see why the series ran for six seasons, mind, and they weren’t even the main characters. Of course, Montag wasn’t going to let her newfound fame drift away. Oh no. She went and released an album called Superficial, which didn’t chart. But she did manage to grab herself a cameo in Just Go With It alongside the likes of Brooklyn Decker. Should make it worth watching.
