Why we love Jacqueline Jossa
Something happened to the EastEnders character Lauren Branning in 2010 (beyond the usual misery, addiction, abuse and calamity that befalls EastEnders character): she suddenly went from a pixie-faced, mop-headed poppet (as played by Madeline Duggan for the preceding four years) to a strutting, mini-skirted, binge-drinking sex-bomb – as played by Duggan’s replacement, Jacqueline Jossa.
Unsurprisingly, the character’s popularity sky-rocketed, and Jossa instantly joined the ranks of Soap-Opera Actress Ladies Who We Harbour Long-Standing Crushes On. Albert Square is definitely getting hotter by the year – remember when the prettiest ladies living there were Dot and Pat? Slim pickings. No wonder all the male characters used to look so bum-faced miserable.
