Why we love Jessica Biel
The Minnesota-born hardbody has put her French and Choctaw-Indian descent to good use: when the call goes out for an ethnically ambiguous siren, Jessica Biel is likely to get the gig.
Jessica Biel began her career in musicals such as pro-ginger propaganda play Annie and made her screen debut aged 15 in Ulee’s Gold. At one point she was seen in her pants distracting us from Adam Sandler’s homophobic horseplay in I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry.
Lately, Jessica Biel, who’s now engaged to all round talent and wit, Justin Timberlake, has been experiencing a bit of a purple patch. She was in the big-budget remake of The A-Team which was actually pretty good if you turned off your snobbery switch for a minute. She appears in horror flick The Tall Man, which is directed by the same man (Pascal Laugier) who directed a little film called Martyrs, which is terrifying and horrible and brilliant. It basically involves loads of girls being submitted to systematic acts of torture by a group of nutters in the belief that their suffering will result in a transcendental insight into the world beyond this one, or something. Never fear though, revenge is wrought.
Biel is also in the remake of Total Recall with Colin Farrell taking Arnies roll. This will be good. And she also has her first film in production from her own company, Iron Ocean Films. Busy busy busy.
