Kaley Cuoco facts

  • Kaley Cuoco is an American actress, most famous for playing Penny in The Big Bang Theory.

  • She's been in over 20 movies, although a lot of them only aired on American TV so you might not have seen them.

  • She played a tiny version of comedienne and prominent lesbian Ellen Degeneres on Ellen back in 1994.

  • She was a nationally-ranked tennis player until she packed the sport in for acting in 2002. A wise move, we feel.

Why we love Kaley Cuoco

Think back. Way back. Like, back to 2005. You might have seen a show on TV (on one of the Freeview channels, mind) called 8 Simple Rules. The full title of the show was 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, rules which (upon investigation) seem to celebrate unnecessary levels of violent abuse on young men who might be romantically interested in a young woman who happens to be your daughter. But when your daughter's played by the beautiful Kaley Cuoco, your doorstep would probably be beset by strapping young chaps at every hour of the day, so fair enough. Not sure about rule number seven which involves stapling someone's trousers to their pelvic bone, though. That really seems over the top. Maybe just have a frank discussion with them beforehand.

Since then Kayley Cuoco's been in tremendously popular TV show The Big Bang Theory, which is where you've probably seen her. She plays Penny, an aspiring actress and employee at the Cheesecake Factory, who lives across the hall from a couple of nerds and engages in various hi-jinx for the entertainment of late-morning hungover viewers of T4.

Kayley Cuoco's no stranger to the big screen, either. Her film debut was 1992's fantastic-sounding Quicksand: No Escape at the age of seven, she starred in 2004's 10.5 in which a team of experts attempt to “weld shut” a dangerous fault line with nuclear bombs (we're watching that one as soon as we're physically able, by the way), and Hop, 2011's premier Easter Bunny-based Russell Brand vehicle.
