During her time on Eastenders as Dawn Swann, Kara was knocked up, abducted, engaged, went into labour on the Tube, had psychiatric treatment and posed as Ian Beale’s wife.
Kara only went and won BBC's Strictly Come Dancing in 2010, getting rather friendly with dance partner Artem Chigvintsev.
She once appeared in a McDonald’s advert.
Tointon played Dawn Swann for four years in Eastenders, single-handedly keeping us interested in the bleakest soap on telly. Essex-girl Tointon has come a long way since she was first fed to Peggy, Big Mo and the other destroyers of hope and goodwill on Albert Square. She proved herself to be good on her feet with a victorious appearance on Strictly Come Dancing for Sport Relief, plus with a celebratory appearance on the cover of FHM’s August 2009 issue behind her, she was halfway to taking over the world.
More recently, she appeared alongside Ray Winstone and Ben ‘Plan B’ Drew in the 2012 film remake of The Sweeney, lookin’ faaaackin’ laaavly, me old faackin’ tweacle (to use the parlance of the movie).
