Why we love Keira Knightley
As any savvy movie-goer is well aware, historical dramas often contain scenes of erotic brilliance. Keira Knightley's role in 2007's Oscar-nominated Atonement, for example, was savagely salacious, followed by her appearance in The Duchess the following year. And in 2012, she’ll mostly be seen at the pictures getting spanked by Aragorn from Lord of the Rings or man of the moment, Michael Fassbender in A Dangerous Method. Saucy psychoanalysis!
Keira Knightley began her career as a child actress, and came to international prominence in 2008 after Bend It Like Beckham and Pirates of the Caribbe an trilogy. She could command a pretty penny too, Knightley was reported to be the second-highest paid actress in Hollywood (behind Cameron Diaz), having reportedly earned $32 million in 2007. More recently she's been raking in the cash from the likes of London Boulevard and Last Night.
Soon you can see Keira Knightley alongside FHM comedy favourite, Steve Carell in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. Which is about two people being a bit sad with each other, because a meteorite is about to strike earth and wipe everyone out. This isn’t like Armageddon, the meteorite is going to hit. But it’s ‘funny sad’, not ‘sad sad’, and they’re both really good actors. We’d like to hang out with Knightley if it was the end of the world. She’d have loads of amusing anecdotes about chatting to Jennifer Connelly while they’re both having a wee at an awards ceremony, or something. Fun stuff, y’know, to distract from the end.
