Lady Gaga, known primarily for her virtually psychotic behaviour and unique fashion sense, has always been a musician. The mini pop prodigy learned to play the piano by the age of four and wrote her first piano ballad at 13. She attended a private Catholic school, with Nicky and Paris Hilton, before getting into NYC's University Tisch School of Arts... and drugs probably.
The talented misfit with her eclectic style and attitude to life signed with Def Jam records, but was dropped just three months later. The lucky Lady Gaga then signed with Interscope Records, after Akon persuaded the label's chairman Jimmy Lovine that she was the next big thing.
Lady Gaga had already been introduced to producer RedOne, and started collaborating with him on her debut album. We're pretty sure in this instance collaborating with means saying his name at the start of every single track. But we mock not, it made her big.
And big she is. Lady Gaga is by far and away one of the biggest performance artists on the planet. Whether she’s arriving on stage in an egg, wearing a dress made of meat, or dressing as her male greaseball alter ego, Joe Calderone, she’s always entertaining. And y’know, a lot of her records are great, and she calls her fans the Little Monsters, which is infinitely nicer sounding than being one of Slipknots maggots.
