Why we love Laura Vandervoort
If you enjoyed Into The Blue for its “artistic” close-ups of Jessica Alba in her swimsuit, you can look forward to more of the same in the sequel – only this time its blonde Canuck Laura Vandervoort doing the subaquatic cavorting. A self-confessed tomboy, the athletic babe from Toronto earned a black belt in karate by the time she was 16, though she’d fallen in love with acting three years earlier after watching cack Macaulay Culkin flick, My Girl. Good news for us: fast forward 10 years and her Supergirl is one of the best (and most sexily dressed) characters on telly.
Now, Laura Vandervoort can be seen alongside New Captain Kirk and Tom Hardy in This Means War - a film about two spies who are competing for the love of one woman. Hilarity and series of elaborate if implausible stunts follow. In reality, if, say a desk office from MI5 fought one from MI6, it would likely be played out in an employment tribunal, rather than a shootout. But that wouldn’t make as good a film, would it.
Also, according to film research bible and solver of many a drunken argument, IMDB, Vandervoort is to star alongside Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg in Ted, ‘a story centered on a man and his teddy bear, who comes to life as the result of a childhood wish.’ Sounds weird right? Well shut your face, because with Laura Vandervoort and Kunis in it, we’ll be first in line.
