We were so, so wrong about Anna Kournikova – it was a bit like putting a tennis racquet in Keeley Hazell's hands and going, "Good luck!" Most famously of all, she won Wimbledon when she was just 17, by which time she was pretty much a fully-fledged Yank, having defected to the country when she was seven. And boy did she have a purpose: Papa Sharapova was determined to make his daughter the best damn player in the world, although he did give her five minutes off for a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit photo shoot in 2006.
