Paris Hilton is significantly smarter than she lets on. In between those reality-TV shows, her drink-driving and drug arrests and that infamous sex tape, she sometimes gives the impression of not being entirely all there it’d be be easy to assume that she's just a ditzy rich-girl relying on her daddy's money.
But Paris has actually done remarkably well, all on her lonesome. She doesn't have to make any money at all: as heiress to the Hilton hotel mega-chain, she's basically set for life, capable of being kept in tiny dogs and giant glasses without ever lifting a finger. But instead, she's spent the last decade grafting away like a motherfucker: launching fashion labels, selling perfumes, producing movies, acting, singing and endorsing countless pink and sparkly products.
And for all her bad behaviour and air-headed moments, she's remained utterly unapologetic, which is totally refreshing in the era of celebrities trudging on Oprah to conduct remorse-filled “Please forgive me, America!” interviews. Some people love to hate her, yes – but we love to hate the people who love to hate her. In turn, they probably love to hate the people who love to hate them for loving to hate Paris, but whatever.
