Why we love Rosario Dawson
Generally it seems that most famous people either have the opportunity to make it big laid on a plate, or they have some kind of hard luck story that makes up their background. For the really rather lovely Rosario Dawson it’s the latter. At the age of nine, her mum moved the whole family in to an abandoned building in Manhattan as squatters. Then, both of her parents completely renovated the place themselves to give the family a nice place to grow up. Effort.
Then again, the best thing about the property appeared to be its location, because when she was stood on her front porch at the age of 15, a passing photographer saw her and thought she’d be great for a part in one of his films. Admittedly, it was the 1994 controversy Kids, which centred around an H.I.V. positive bloke trying to sleep with as many virgins as possible, but it still launched her on to bigger things.
Since then, Rosario’s appeared in a bunch of big movies like Men in Black II, Alexander (in which she gets very naked for a sex scene), Sin City and Seven Pounds. More recently, she’s starred in Unstoppable, and also has a part in the first major internet movie - Girl Walks Into a Bar - to be released on YouTube. Away from her films though, you get the impression she’s a fun gal to be around – she’s going out with an international DJ that she met in a café - although not too fun, seeing as Rosario is such a big Trekkie that she can speak Klingon. Bit weird.
