Leaving behind a successful soap opera in her native Mexico, actress Salma got her big break in Hollywood opposite Antonio Banderas in Desperados.
Salma is an Arabic name, which means ‘peace’ or ‘calm’ (and not, as you may have suspected, ‘gigantic rack’).
She has never been a professional table dancer, but has played a stripper in two films: From Dusk Till Dawn and Dogma.

Salma Hayek’s consistently high ranking in FHM’s 100 Sexiest was reinforced by a recent American poll, which revealed that 65 per cent of folks across the pond would use the term ‘sexy’ to describe her.
We can but worry for the other 35 per cent, who have somehow overlooked her sultry Latino charm, propensity to wear as little as possible on screen and, of course, her magnificent chest.
For an onscreen bonk with half-man-half-alcohol actor Colin Farrell in Ask The Dust, she won the highly coveted Best Nude Scene of 2006 award, however, men looking to share her real life boudoir will have to make a slightly unappealing compromise: “If a man lets all of my dogs sleep in the bed with us, then that is the most romantic thing.”
