Sasha Grey is a porn star. Or a ‘pornographic actress’, who’s taken to intellectualising the bongo industry, quoting New Wave filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard in interviews and stating a desire to appear on the Howard Stern Show wearing nothing but the Palestinian flag (she thinks he’s a racist). Once quoted as saying she’s “determined and ready to be a commodity that fulfils everyone’s fantasies,” Grey’s looking to cater for all colours of the X-rated spectrum.
But she is a trained professional, having taken acting lessons for 10 years in Sacramento. And she appeared in Steven Soderbergh’s The Girlfriend Experience; her confident, if unspectacular, debut in mainstream cinema. So watch out for this one, and she braves the vitriol of a million journalists intent on reminding her where she came from, and where all the come went.
