It’s not every day that someone invites you to go to the biggest annual event on the British film calendar. So when Disaronno asked us if we’d like to go to the 2013 EE BAFTAs with them, drink some cocktails, and hang out with the crème de le crème of the silver screen, we thought it would be rude to say no. Here’s what we discovered on a snow and sexy celeb-filled night in London…
BAFTAs 2013

01 It’s been a great year for film…
…and British film in particular. While everyone pretty much agrees that 2011 was a dud year for the industry, 2012 kicked all kinds of arse, and us Brits had a major part to play in all that. Not only did mahoosive blockbusters like The Dark Knight Rises and Looper live up to the hype, but smaller homegrown projects – like the awesome Sightseers and Wild Bill – blew us away. Not to mention the behemoth that is…

02 Skyfall – aka the biggest British film of all time
OK, so it may have been pipped to the Best Film gong by Ben Affleck’s Argo, but there’s no stopping the Skyfall juggernaut. After grossing more than $160,000,000 in the UK alone – becoming the most successful British film EVER – it took home the BAFTA for Best British Film. If you’re one of the seven people in the country who hasn’t seen it yet, do yourself a favour and rent it when it’s out on DVD tomorrow.

03 We’re in love with Jennifer Lawrence
She is perfect. There is nothing wrong with her. Nothing. Jen, if you’re reading this, marry us, please?

04 We’re also slightly obsessed with Juno Temple

If you don’t know who Juno Temple is, then you will soon. The 23-year-old British actress – who’s already starred in Atonement, St Trinian’s and The Dark Knight Rises – picked up the prestigious Rising Star award last night. If previous years’ winners are anything to go by (Tom Hardy, Kristen Stewart, James McAvoy to name but a few) you can bet she’ll be vying for a Best Actress trophy by 2014.

05 And let’s not forget Alicia Vikander either
She may have lost out to Juno in the Rising Star category, but she’s one to keep an eye on (if you know what we mean. You know what we mean.) You can also read more about her in this month’s FHM.

06 It’s not an awards ceremony without Anne Hathaway crying

Seriously, Anne. You’ve won an award for a movie. Nobody’s died. Keep it together, yeah?

07 Samuel L Jackson is still officially The Man

He may be in his mid-60s, but Samuel L Jackson remains the coolest dude in Hollywood. In fact, he’s so cool that he was able to simultaneously make weepy old Anne Hathaway laugh whilst hanging from the ceiling by his hat. Bravo, Jackson. Bravo.

08 Laura Whitmore hasn’t been in any films…
…but she bloody should. Because the former FHM cover star is sensationally hot. She also stole our brolly, but is totally worth getting hypothermia for.

09 Christoph Waltz is a lot smaller than you’d think…
…and also a lot nicer. As we discovered while chatting to him in the toilet. He also has very good hand hygiene skills, FYI.
