That’s it, then. The girls at Victoria’s Secret are officially the best people on earth. Sorry, Nelson Mandela, your time is up. Move over. Clear out your desk.
The Victoria’s Secret girls – and that’s Allesandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Linsday Ellington and Erin Heatherton, in this particular case – are some of the most gorgeous women in the world. They are professionally gorgeous for buckets of cash.
And yet, here they are being professionally gorgeous for CHARITY. Not some rubbish charity, like donkey sanctuaries, but a real honest-to-God charity for human beings that helps them defeat cancer. The charity's called Pelotonia. If cancer was an ogre, Pelotonia is the wizard who hands sufferers a +3 blade of ogre-slaying. They’re just awesome like that. Also bikes are involved.
Most of the bikes move, we should stress, unlike this one
The girls raised money not by running a bake sale or standing at the exit to a tube shaking a bucket a looking plaintive, but by wearing tight spandex and getting all sweaty on some bikes. That’s just – that’s fantastic. That’s the sort of charity we can really get behind. Or in front of. Whichever affords us the better view, to be honest.
So, yes – the Victoria’s Secret girls are now officially the finest people on earth and should be recognised as such. Perhaps next year’s TIME Top 100 People could just be 20 pictures of each of them, in increasingly sexy and increasingly charitable poses. Hell, we might actually buy it if they did that.
Victoria’s Secret have a goal to raise $1.5 million this year, which is pretty ambitious. We’ve had a whip round in the office and managed to raise £4.37, which isn’t a lot. But the less we give, the more they’ll have to resort to publicity stunts like this one, so really, what’s the incentive? If for some reason you don't want to see more of them, feel free to donate here.
