You probably know Vanessa Hudgens as either that girl from the High School Musical movies, or that girl from the High School Musical movies who was naked on the internet. She is now all growns up and appearing in movies that don't require her to sing terrible, terrible songs at Zac Efron, as evidenced by this first image of her in her new movie Sucker Punch (via EW.com).
Sucker Punch is directed by Zak Snyder, the guy who made 300 and Watchmen. Snyder describes the film as "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns", which is one of the main things missing from Lewis Caroll's story. It follows a girl (Emily Browning) in a mental asylum who creates her own imaginary world to get away from her sucky life. She plans to escape from the asylum and the fantasy world, but only has five days to do so before someone chops out bits of her brain and turns her into a vegetable. So that's harsh.
Vanessa plays one of the girl's friend. The other people in that photo are Jena Malone (far left), who's been in loads of stuff like Donnie Darko and Pride and Prejudice, and Emily Browning (second left), whose only major film role was in the adaptation of children's book Lemmony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. The film wasn't all that good, but she was. We think the girl on the right is Jamie Chung, but we're not promising anything because we've never seen her before and just had to do a search on Google. So don't hold us to that as fact. It wouldn't be fair.
In other Vanessa Hudgens news, she hung out at the beach this weekend with Hayden Panettiere.
Why? Something to do with some soap they both advertise. Whatever. We're not into fancy soap. We're really manly, so we just go out and beat our face against a rock in the river when it gets a bit grubby.
Beach balls! Wheeeeeee!
