Ten years ago, back before 9/11 and the Iraq war and Crunchy Nut Clusters, the world was a different place. Teenagers would greet you with a cheery hello in the street, the economy was awesome, and McFly hadn’t even been invented yet. Sadly, websites weren’t so great. FHM’s homepage, for example, consisted of nothing more than a 20x20 pixel .gif of a golden retriever, that barked once an hour. And look at us now – we’ve got heaps of web games, a network of High Street Honeys and even a Twitter account, for Gates’ sake.

As this link shows, they big guys weren’t looking so amazing, either. Head this way for a retrospective look at Google, YouTube, “The Facebook” and more. Mental.
