Eschewing the lottery of betting on England friendlies, we’re lumping on a World Cup qualifiers accumulator on Saturday as our footie bet of the week. Cover Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Holland and Spain to win their respective matches in six fivefolds or one sixfold at around 17/1 with Coral.
Jenson Button (remember him?) has outperformed Lewis Hamilton so convincingly in initial testing that they’re both now 5/1 to be F1 champ this year (Button was 125/1 a couple of weeks ago). But for this weekend’s opening Grand Prix in Australia we’re backing the consistently-quick Hamilton-hater Fernando Alonso at 6/1 with William Hill.
Fact 1: you will only enjoy the Boat Race if you have a substantial wager on it. Fact 2: the heavier crew wins twice as often as the lighter one. Fact 3: Oxford has the heaviest crew ever. That’s sufficient rowing knowledge for us to back the Dark Blues to win by more than three and a half lengths at 5/6 with Ladbrokes.
*Or perhaps lose your money and live on beans and water for the whole of April. For which FHM will not be held responsible.
