Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that he does not want to sign for Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger is apparently interested in signing the Gabon international, with reports on Spanish site Fichajes insisting that they have lodged a £44m bid.

But the Gunners’ hopes of strengthening their attacking options have taken a blow with Aubameyang’s admission that he isn’t keen on a switch to the Emirates.

The 26-year-old, speaking after winning the 2015 African Player of the Year award, said: “I don’t want to go to Arsenal. I won’t leave Dortmund soon.”

Aubameyang narrowly beat Manchester City star Yaya Toure to win the gong, receiving 143 votes to the Ivorian’s 136.

And he dedicated his award to the people of Gabon.

“I thank the people of Gabon, this award is for them,” he said. “I want to thank my team mates in the national team and also at Dortmund. It is their work that helps me to score goals,”

“For the parents of the youth of Africa, please give your kids a chance to realise their dreams.”
