Back in the 1960s while women were protesting for equal rights, a pretty popular trend known as "bra burning" began. Few women literally burned their bras, but the idea was that a bra is a symbol of societal oppression — specifically domineered by the patriarchy. Without a pesky bra, women were able to feel independent, liberated even.
Going sans bra was a big movement then and consequently, it's become a big thing now. Hm, we wonder why? Y'all don't think it has anything to do with the fact that women are still protesting, marching, and fighting for equal rights, do you? Nah, that can't possibly be right.
See, while we may all be benefitting from see-through tops and peek-a-boo nipple rings, it's bigger than that. Celebrities, especially those from a younger generation like Kendall Jenner and Ariel Winter aren't rocking the no bra look to please us! In fact, quite the opposite.
They're doing it — A) because they can and B) because at the end of the day, it's about reclaiming their bodies and freely expressing their sexuality. Plus, we imagine it's way more comfortable! Those things look awfully restrictive. According to some ladies, taking their bra off at the end of a long day is damn near orgasmic. We bet they don't even say that about your love-making skills — oh, burn!
Really though, can you blame them? Imagine if men had to wear bras, and lord knows some of y'all need one, cough manboobs, cough.
Again, in now way are these women trying to be please us, it's just a really freakin' beautiful added bonus. Let's just hope this revolution is here to stay for another 50 years. Hell, you're never too old to appreciate a nice set of...ladies fighting for what's right!
