Now, I'm not going to sit here and tell you that I've had a sit-down convo with my parents or close family members about the first time I had sex—that's not really anyone's business, especially considering it was literally over half of my life ago. However, given the fact that one of my sisters and both my mom and dad have walked in on me getting down and dirty before, I've had my fair share of embarrassing moments in the sack.
That said, as awkward as it was to see the look on my mom's face when she stood with her arms crossed and shaking her head as a random girl from a wedding reception and I scurried to clothe ourselves after being caught, it pales in comparison to this video from The Cut's YouTube channel in which people tell their parents how they lost their V-cards.
As you can see above, this isn't stuff that's easy to spill to your folks.
Of course, even the biggest celebrities on the planet have awkward virginity stories, like Kim Kardashian and Jessica Alba, who both had this to say about their first time having sex.
- Kim Kardashian: "When I did want to have sex the first time I was almost 15 ... I was like, 'I think I'm going to, or I want to,' and she [her mom, Kris Jenner] was like, 'OK, so this is what we're going to do, we're going to put you on birth control,' and she was, like, really open and honest with me."
- Jessica Alba: "I was so young, 18, when I started dating him. I was a virgin. I knew I wanted to be in love with the first person I slept with, because for almost everyone I knew, the first experience made them feel like sh*t. So I wanted to be really careful that he was going to be in love with me and wasn't just going to leave me."
Could you imagine being Kim Kardashian? She "thinks" she wants to have sex, then approaches her mom about the topic so she can go on birth control? Yeah, that's weird.
Anyway, having sex can be strange no matter who you are or how experienced you are—but, when you've got to face your parents to tell them about the very first time, it makes it so much more cringeworthy.
