This is the first remotely political piece I've dealt with in quite some time. Let's go ahead and place a huge emphasis on the word, "remotely" as I'm not actually writing about anything political, but rather a political satire, which doesn't count....at all. This isn't about policy, or reform, or national security. This is about one thing, and one thing only, and that's Alec-frickin'-Baldwin.
I think we can all agree, Dump (not a typo) supporter or otherwise, that Alec Baldwin plays a better Donald Trump than Trump does. Sure, they share a similar orange hue and God-awful head of hair, but what Trump lacks is honesty. He's always trying to hide under the guise of being an intelligent and decent man. I'll give you a minute to finish laughing, then you can hear me out. Donald Trump ISN'T a person, he's a caricature, but he tries to mask that by pretending to be something resembling a civilized human being! Baldwin, being his own fabulous-self and merely playing Trump on television, allows him to go full-throttle.
Seriously, it's a bit eerie how well he does it. Actually, no, it's more than a bit eerie, it's really eerie, but that doesn't stop the masses from tuning in every Saturday to watch him in action. Baldwin sat down with Stephen Colbert to let us all in on his secrets to becoming the most hated, and consequently, the most powerful man in America.
Let's just go ahead and declare, "You pick a few things…left eyebrow up, right eyebrow down – and shove your face out like you’re trying to suck the chrome off the fender of a car" the absolute best acting tip of all time. You know, permitting you're playing someone who often shoves their face out like they're sucking car chrome.
