Marvel has done an amazing job of universe building since the release of the first Iron Man in 2008, and if there have been any weak links over the years, it’s probably the solo Thor films. Well, guess what? For the third dip back into that Asgardian well, it’s not a solo film! As Marvel seems to have realized, adding another hero (or more) into a “solo” adventure, turns it into an event; a sot of mini-Avengers, if you will, and that’s certainly the approach being taken with this one. As things unfold, Thor (Hemsworth) finds himself on the planet Sakaar, without his hammer, and must win a gladiatorial battle if he wants to be set free. His opponent? None other than the Incredible Hulk (a mo-capped Mark Ruffalo). Once that very cool business is out of the way, they must deal with the evil Hela (Blanchett) and the impending doom of the Asgardian people known as “Ragnarok.” And, oh, yeah, Doctor Strange (Cumberbatch) is in this superhero lovefest as well. Not to mention Thor’s brother, Loki (Hiddleston).
