After re-reading that headline that I just wrote, it almost seems like something from The Onion, but, alas, it's actually true, as a freshman at Texas A&M University named Miranda Kay Rader is the culprit in one of the dumbest decisions I've ever heard of.
Not only did Rader make the, potentially, fatal decision to get behind the wheel of her Acura while drunk, but she also thought that, while intoxicated and driving, she should take a quick snap of herself for her selected followers to see—while naked, per My San Antonio.
Bryan Police Officer John Sartell was responding to a disturbance call in the area when he heard "a vehicle braking hard," and he saw a gray Acura SUV crash into his parked patrol car, the affidavit states. Sartell said he found Rader in the gray Acura, with the airbags deployed, and she was not wearing a shirt.
"I asked her why she was not dressed while driving and she stated that she was taking a Snapchat photo to send to her boyfriend while she was at the red light," Sartell said in the affidavit, adding that Rader had on an unclasped bra and was attempting to put on a black blouse when the officer approached her vehicle.
Sartell said in the affidavit that Rader told him she had an open bottle of wine in the car that she was bringing home from a friend's house. Upon further inspection, Sartell found that the wine bottle was about a quarter of the way full with a "liquid that had the odor of an alcoholic beverage."
Admitting to the Officer Sartell that she drank about a quarter of the wine, Rader underwent a field sobriety test where, according to the My San Antonio report, the officer described her with "glassy" eyes as she "swayed continuously."
The freshman was taken to a local hospital to get blood drawn before being moved to the Brazos County Detention Center where she was booked and charged with driving while intoxicated with an open container, while also given a citation for being a minor in possession of alcohol.
This is amusing and all since no one got seriously injured, but the 20-year-old Miranda Kay Rader is lucky nothing worse happened, because this could have been really bad.
Remember, guys, don't drink and drive.
