MGM announced its new pick to take on the role of legendary "Tomb Raider" heroine Lara Croft. Alicia Vikander, who most people will recognize as the sexy robot Ava from 2015's "Ex Machina," will play the young Croft in an upcoming reboot directed by Roar Uthaug, a guy with a badass name and a reputation in his native Norway.
Vikander has already established herself as a serious actress, recently appearing in "The Danish Girl" and winning the Oscar for best supporting actress for her role. Her credits in action flicks is already growing, with roles in both "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and the upcoming "Jason Bourne."
Details are scarce at the moment, but it appears the new movie will be a total reboot based on the recent video game franchise, which itself was a total reboot. In the new video game series, we see an inexperienced and innocent Lara Croft grow into her status as a hardened survivor and cold killer who uncovers supernatural elements in her pursuits for the truth and some treasure.
