All things considered, Gwyneth Paltrow is recognized as an incredibly esteemed Hollywood actress, mother, and food writer. It seems now she's branching out into other arenas of discussion.
Goop is Gwyneth's weekly lifestyle publication that offers "exclusives, collaborations, recipes, travel notes, and more." This week, she posted an article entitled, "Reality Check: Anal Sex."
While Paltrow does offer a lot of sex advice on her site (including tips on sex toys and bondage), it just seems, well strange, or maybe a bit surprising to get anal sex advice from someone as elegant and poised as she is. Then again, the type of sex you enjoy says nothing about you outside of the bedroom. You know, as the old saying goes, "lady in the streets, freak in the sheets." We don't even know if she herself likes it, we just know she wants to inform people about it!
Paltrow sat down with research psychoanalyst and author, Paul Joannides, Psy.D to detail all of the different risks involved with anal, as well as the best ways to lead up to it in the bedroom:
"Both of you should read all you can about it first. Spend a few weeks helping the receiving partner train her anal sphincters to relax. Make sure you and your partner have great sexual communication, trust, and that you both want to do it, as opposed to one trying to pressure the other, or not wanting to do it but doing it because you are afraid your partner will find someone else who will. Do not do it drunk or stoned, and do not use lube that numbs your anus. If it doesn’t feel good when it’s happening, stop."
You hear that gentleman? No anus numbing lube!
