For those of you who don't watch Game of Thrones, Hafthor Björnsson may not be a household name. Actually, erm, to be fair, even if you do watch GoT, the name Hafthor Björnsson may not exactly ring a bell. More often than not, he's referred to as "The Mountain", and given the fact he's 6′ 9″ and 397 pounds, that shouldn't really come as a surprise. Not only is he an indestructible force on Game of Thrones, but he follows in suit with virtually every role he plays.
This has never been made more apparent than in his most recent performance in the Jean-Claude Van Damme sequel to the reboot of Kickboxer, Kickboxer: Retaliation. The film was released last Friday (January 26) and already, according to Rotten Tomatoes has stellar reviews. We suspect that Hafthor Björnsson's role, albeit small, has something to do with that. Take a look!
Can we just take a moment to pray for the poor individuals who had to come in contact with Björnsson? Seriously, if his performances are any testament to his actual strength, we're pretty sure that we'd run in the opposite direction — no shame. Oh, did we mention that he also happens to compete in professional strongman competitions? So much so, that he won Strongest Man in Iceland back in 2010.
Naturally, being his size, Björnsson will most likely continue to fit these sort of beastly, epic roles! If he's cool with it, so are we! We wouldn't mind watching Björnsson toss guys around for years to come, you know, so long as those guys aren't us.
