You know those trick shot videos you've seen all over the web from ridiculously high up or far away? Chances are it was something to do with How Ridiculous.
They've built up a massive YouTube following by going bigger and better with each and every video they post to their channel. That list includes chucking basketballs off the Gordon Dam and breaking a world record, scoring underwater hole-in-ones and hitting insane cricket trick shots.
We caught up with them while they were in the UK with Lucozade (to film a basketball shot from the top of Stratford's Olympic Orbit monument), and got their tips on how to become a viral behemoth...
" Videos like the World Record Dam shot take serious time to put together. That was months, maybe even years of work. The location we picked was something we dreamed up in 2011 and it wasn’t till the end of 2014 that we got contact from them to help us out and do an epic shot.
"Videos work well with a cool concept that’s unique to look at. Then, you want to do that at a particular location that’s got a bit of the x factor. For us, that’s whether it’s big and it looks intimidating or if it’s just iconic. The Olympic Park and the Orbit are super iconic, especially with its proximity to the Olympic Stadium.
"You have to make sure it’s filmed correctly, too. You could do an awesome shot but you might not do it justice with your filming. So, make sure you’re getting all the right angles and telling the story on the day.
"We did one with the Frisbee guy Brodie back in 2011, which was great fun. But the F2 Freestylers man, they’re unbelievable and super talented. We did a soccer video a few years ago and it really has nothing on what these guys do.
"When you’ve got platforms like Vine and Instagram you don’t have the ability to see a longer video, so I’m of the opinion that a longer one can do just as well. With what we do? A shorter video is probably better, probably no more than two minutes.
"Getting out there and having a crack at doing those things that most people probably don’t have the patience to do and make it available for people who want to watch a quick video on their phone or tablet.
