Instagram model Jen Selter — who is one of the most beloved fitness models on the social sharing app — found herself in a situation on an American Airlines flight over the weekend that has the Internet buzzing. That's because, while aboard a flight from Miami to New York City that sat on the tarmac for two hours, she was removed from the plane for, apparently, being unruly. And she got the whole thing on video and posted it to social media!
The 24-year-old Selter, who is best-known for influencing others on social media byway of fitness videos and pictures, said that the whole experience was "humiliating. They made me feel like a terrible person, and I did nothing wrong," according to Page Six.
Here are three videos of the incident as it happened in real-time, which Jen Selter posted to her Twitter account. As you could imagine, they're a bit extreme given the circumstances.
The situation happened after Selter stood up while the plane was parked and not moving, according to the Page Six report, with the Instagram model standing up to stretch and put her jacket away. It was at that moment that the male flight attendant approached her and asked if she wanted to, "get kicked off the plane?" Sarcastically replying, "yeah," things got a bit more serious than anyone would have imagined. Jen Selter added:
“The plane wasn’t taking off. I told him to relax. But he had something against me,” she said. “He was so nasty.”
“All of a sudden five cops came up,” she said. “I was literally getting attacked.”
“I will never ever fly American Airlines again.”
She added, “I’ve seen cops come onto flights. But they shouldn’t kick people off unless something is actually dangerous.”
American Airlines did release a comment about the incident, via [Page Six], with a rep from the company having this to say about what happened.
“Ms. Selter was asked to leave the aircraft after a disagreement occurred last night at Miami International Airport (MIA),” the rep said. “American offered her hotel accommodations and transportation, which she declined.”
Selter also said that, due to the long delay, other passengers on the flight were testy, with the Instagram model adding, "there was so much bickering on the plane. Everyone just wanted to get the hell to New York." One could imagine that included the flight attendants, but doing something like this is unnecessary, whether it's a high-profile person like Jen Selter or someone else. Bad look, American, bad look.
