I'm fairly certain by using the term "thumb trick" you all know what I'm talking about, but just in case we've got any stoners or people with just generally bad memories in the house, I'll explain for good measure.
Okay, so remember when you would sort hold your one thumb between your pointer and opposite thumb then make it look like you were removing the original thumb? Does that make sense? This is A LOT harder to explain in words versus using the actual visual, but I think you guys get the gist. It was pretty common practice on most grade school playgrounds and I know it was also super popular amongst the grandparent circuit of the elderly trying to dazzle their grandkids.
Well, this kid, excuse me, this WIZARD, is using some crazy-ass sorcery for his thumb trick because he it damn near looks like he's actually removing his fingers sans any blood or gore. In fact, I don't even know if we can call it a thumb trick because he uses other fingers! Seriously, it's very confusing, but also very entertaining.
With this being a YouTube video of esteemed popularity, of course people have come to the rescue trying to uncover the secret behind the trick. Personally, I think that defeats the purpose of magic, but hey! Not everyone is as old school as me.
One Reddit user got real technical—"Pause before and after the quick flick," Dmytro Zuyenko wrote. "During the motion, he hides his right pinky behind his ring finger and on his left hand, he jutted his middle finger from behind his pointer finger so the tip looked like his 'separated' right pinky."
Again, personally speaking, I don't want to know. Just let me enjoy it, Dmytro! Okay??
