I deleted Snapchat off my phone about 2-weeks ago. It's not that I don't enjoy the app, per say. I just stopped giving a shit about what people we're doing and what weird, anime-looking, oddly-sexual, cute animal filters they were using on their dumb faces (to be fair, I was once one of those dumb-faces....circa 2-weeks ago).
That being said, I feel like after this latest update I'm going to inevitably be brainwashed and societally pressured to re-download—such is life in 2017.
In a statement released from Snapchat early today, they announced their newest feature—limitless snaps. I'm technologically impaired, even when it comes to something as explaining Snapchat, so I'll let the professionals do it:
We’ve all felt the frustration of not being able to fully enjoy a Snap – even after replaying it – and we wanted to give you the option of allowing the recipient to enjoy your Snap as long as they’d like. After your friend finishes viewing the Snap and taps to close it, it will delete as usual. There’s also a new Loop tool for videos so you can decide if your Snap plays once or loops until your friend is ready to tap to the next Snap."
I know you're all thinking it, so I'm just going to say it—this could be a pretty big game changer for all the ill-advised people out there who still think it's a good idea to send nudes/provocative material via Snapchat. That's why I love when they specified, "your friend" in the statement. You know exactly what your app is primarily used for! Just own it.
Anyway, I think this could be pretty cool feature, which is why I'm suggesting it has the potential to one-up the flower crown in popularity—a day I NEVER thought I'd see.
While I've personally grown more fond of Instagram stories, I think I can give Snapchat a try again. Also, can we just close on FACEBOOK STORIES being the dumbest idea ever?! Alright, thanks.
