It wasn't the most enjoyable NCAA Tournament game to watch—especially considering the high stakes of the national championship being on the line—but the North Carolina Tar Heels were able to outlast the Gonzaga Bulldogs to take home the men's college basketball title.
While the play seemed to be interrupted over and over and over with the referees blowing their whistles nonstop and a number of key players for both teams forced to sit with foul trouble, the final three minutes were as intense as could be, with each team digging deep as every possession continued to be more critical.
In the end, it came down to some big shots from the Tar Heels, with a big "And One" from UNC's Justin Jackson at the 1:25 mark, which was part of a 9-2 run that ended the game to leave the Zags in tears during their first ever national title game appearance.
For North Carolina, it completes their mission of revenge from last year when they lost in heartbreaking fashion to Villanova.
In a tournament that boasted plenty of upsets, it came down to two No. 1 seeds to decide the national title, with both North Carolina and Gonzaga giving college sports fans another intense national championship game in the NCAA Tourney for the second-straight year, similar to the last-second win in the college football title game earlier this year between Clemson and Alabama.
So, yeah, if you like sports, this is heaven.
