Back in my college Psychology student days I was consumed with all things serial killers. At the time, my obsession wasn't nearly as mainstream as it is now. Not going to lie, it was pretty taboo to discuss true crime openly. I mean, I get it, "So what do you know about Charles Manson?" isn't exactly a solid ice breaker. Nowadays, it seems that between Netflix and popular podcasts like, Last Podcast On The Left and My Favorite Murder, people have started to really open up about their interest in the darker side of the human psyche.
Personally, I'm more of a Dahmer girl, but Charles Manson definitely falls in my Top 3. So, when I heard mutterings of this project, I got pretty excited. As per an exclusive from the Hollywood Reporter—"Sources say that Tarantino is putting the finishing touches on the script and that Brad Pitt, who worked with the filmmaker on Basterds, and Jennifer Lawrence have been approached. Studios could receive the package after Labor Day, according to one source. The plan is to shoot in 2018, possibly in the summer. Script details are scant but one of the stories centers on Sharon Tate, the actress and wife of director Roman Polanski who was murdered by Manson and his followers in 1969."
If you're interested in learning more about the murders, I suggest listening to Last Podcast On The Left, they have a 3-part Charles Manson episode. Additionally, Manson: The Life and Times of Charles Manson and Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders are absolutely riveting reads. Those links will take you right to Amazon! If you're too cheap to buy them, go ahead and hit up the public library, will ya please? You won't be disappointed.
