If you've got a mean case of OCD like we do, then you already know that those scratches are on the inside of your car can be just as bothersome as the ones on the outside! That's why we're here to teach y'all how to remove scratches from your car's interior without having to get it professionally detailed. Yep, that's right, you can do all of this from the comfort of your own driveway without racking up a crazy, unnecessary bill.
In the video below, you'll find a step-by-step guide from AMMO NYC for polishing your black interior trim. Typically, these areas are extremely soft and as a result, scratch super easily. It's important to follow the steps exactly as the tutorial shows. Otherwise, you risk making the scratches worse/adding more.
Considering the video is almost 20 minutes long, we'll go ahead and summarize some of the key points below that took place prior to the more technical explanation. You know, just in case you're not a big video guy! It's OK, we get it! Some people like to kick it old school and actually read instructions.
You need to begin in a very well-lit setting — whether it be in your garage or outdoors. Needless to say, you can't do this at nighttime.
Next, quickly clean out the area using compressed air, an interior brush, and fanatic picks.
After that, tape off the surrounding interior plastics or leather to prevent any kind of staining.
Then, use a 50/50 mixture of water and isopropyl alcohol to clean off any hand grease, coffee, etc.
Following the initial cleaning/prep, the tutorial requires specific tools/products, all of which are explained in the video. If you're rolling eyes because you don't feel like spending money, we'd like to remind you that you only have to invest in these products one time! Most car detailing services cost hundreds of dollars. It's up to you guys, but we think DIY is the way to go here.
