We knowing eating in the morning can be a real pain the ass. For starters, when your choices are between oatmeal and an extra 20 minutes of sleep, it's safe to say you're going to slam that snooze button and continue your sweet dreaming. No judgement, guys, we get it! Sleep is precious and oatmeal sucks. That being said, the side effects of not eating breakfast stem far beyond just a little rumble in your stomach come mid-morning. It can lead to some pretty nasty odors, and really, who wants to be that guy at the office? Not us! That's for sure.
According to an article in The Daily Mail, skipping breakfast in the morning allows odor-causing bacteria to linger in the mouth. Pretty pleasant stuff, right? Yeah, not so much. You see, by eating breakfast you're flushing away those bacteria. We're not saying that you need to eat something complicated (although, who doesn't like a good pancake breakfast?) even a quick bite will do.
Dr. Mervyn Druian, of the London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry, explains that "skipping breakfast is one of the worst dirty habits for bad breath, as it leaves the morning mouth dry allowing bacteria to linger." OK, OK, we've been convinced! Between the use of "dry morning mouth" and "bacteria" we're perfectly grossed out. Question is, what's an acceptable breakfast? Dr. Druian continued by advising, at the very least, drinking some water and having a piece of fruit.
That's not too difficult, right? If anything, just go ahead and leave an apple and bottle of water next to your bed every night. That way, you can relish those last few minutes in bed and eat breakfast. Now that's a #ProTip if we've ever seen one. You're welcome!
