For die-hard Sons of Anarchy fans like ourselves, it seems like it's been light-years since our favorite motorcycle club has graced television screens — running a muck, selling drugs, and well, murdering people (innocent or otherwise) left and right. It wasn't the most light-hearted show, but it certainly was F'in entertaining! That's why when we got wind that a Sons of Anarchy spinoff series has finally been confirmed, we just had to share the news with you guys.
As per Variety, FX has greenlit Mayans MC, ordering a 10-episode season of the drama from Kurt Sutter and Elgin James, setting a premiere for later this year. Mayans MC is the next chapter of the Sons of Anarchy saga where the events will take place in the eyes of EZ Reyes — having recently been released from prison he must now fight his way through the ranks all over again in attempts to make it in the Mayan MC charter on the Cali/Mexi border.
We know it's difficult to get used to a whole new cast of characters, but remember, the story still takes place in the same Sons of Anarchy universe and most importantly, the brilliant Kurt Sutter is still the mastermind behind the series. Variety continued:
“Kurt Sutter is a master storyteller and Mayans MC has the raw energy and intensity that are hallmarks of his signature style,' said Nick Grad, president of original programming for FX. 'Thanks to Kurt, co-creator Elgin James and this amazing cast, Mayans MC builds on the legacy of Sons of Anarchy, taking it in a thrilling new direction that we can’t wait for the world to see.'"
Most recently, the FX network took to Twitter to share their "See What's Coming FX" teaser trailer. Within that teaser, we were able to grab some behind the scenes images from Mayans MC and let's just say, we are beyond pumped!
