The year 2016 has seen plenty of bad things happen, and, after numerous legendary musicians and pop cult heroes passed away, another one, unfortunately, joined some of those other names today, as Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher died at 60 years old.
Most recognized as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars, Fisher was also an accomplished screenwriter and author, releasing the 1987 film Postcards from the Edge as a semi-autobiographical history of her life.
Sustaining a heart attack on a flight from London to L.A. last Friday, Carrie Fisher was rushed to UCLA Medical Center in hopes to save her life. Sadly, Fisher reportedly never regained consciousness and passed away today.
Leaving a huge impact on the film industry, many stars turned to social media to express their condolences, including fellow sci-fi stars like Mark Hamill and William Shatner.
