With Memorial Day weekend among us, it's important to acknowledge all of the beautiful things that go a long with this good ol' American holiday. Of course, the most important thing is commemorating all the brave men and women who have died serving our country. The second most important thing is the celebration!
These celebrations are pretty standard practice from sea to shining sea and often include the staple food and beverage of beer, burgers and of course, hot dogs!
Franks, wieners, weenies, dogs—it doesn't matter what you call them! At the end of the day they're are quite possible one of the most iconic American comfort foods (despite originating in Germany). Whether you're at a backyard BBQ or ballgame, one thing that's for sure is a good dog is always encouraged.
Many great men have shared this sentiment throughout history:
"A hotdog at the ballgame beats roast beef at the Ritz."—Humphrey Bogart
"Some people wanted champagne and caviar when they should have had beer and hot dogs."—Dwight D. Eisenhower
"If I'm out of town and I'm in a situation where I have to be creative, it has to be hot dogs because that's my comfort food." —Ester Dean
And finally, this brilliant one from a weird Hollywood sort of has-been:
To narrow the list down to just 10 was pretty difficult, but we wanted to be sure that we covered as many regions of The U.S. as we could. As a personal shout out, being from the East Coast, specifically NYC, Crif Dogs is my number one. We hope that you came across a place that's at least within driving distance!
