There's not many shoes out there that are all-time classics. There's a few, for sure, but most of them get replaced in a year or two with a bigger, better, more flashy number.
Then there's the Chuck Taylor All Star Silhouette. Almost everybody has them and, if they don't, they want them. So good news all round: the vintage sneakers are getting an update.
Now named the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II, most of the outside look is staying the same – the new trainers are keeping the easily recognisable rubber toe-cap, white foxing detail and statement All Star patch.
But, thanks to a few updates, they're also more comfortable, versatile and premium than ever. Inside, there's a Nike Lunarlon sockliner, foam padded collar and non-slip padded tongue for a refined and cushioned fit. And if you've ever found yourself traipsing on mammoth walks in your Converse, rejoice: they've now got a perforated micro-suede liner for comfort and breathability during extended periods of wear.
What all this basically means is that the shoes are looking as good as they ever have, and treating your feet better than they did before.
There's literally no reason not to jump into a pair immediately.
The new 2015 Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II is released on 28 July in black, white, red and blue. Buy a pair at JD Sports.
