While millions of players loaded the latest instalment in the Fallout franchise, two men set about making a real life replica of its flaming sword.
In a four-day project, two guys from YouTube channel Make: turned a katana samurai sword into a working replica of the weapon from Bethesda Softworks' latest creation.
And it's... a bit mental.
The project began with the concept artwork for the flaming sword, and mainly figuring out how to get the fire to shoot down the blade.
They decided to go with butane gas rather than propane to ignite the fire, due to the size of the canister. But that probably was one of the easier steps for the duo, as they still had to attach an ignition system and direct the power.
The fiery element of the sword is distributed through a pipe along the top of the blade, producing flames along the shaft with the power coming directly from the handle, which is a bit different from Fallout 3’s Shishkebab backpack tank.
