Instagram's CEO Kevin Systrom has finally explained why Instagram still has it's infamous 'no nudity' policy.
Despite the best #FreeTheNipple efforts of some of the world's sexiest celebs, the reason behind the unpopular policy means it isn't going anywhere.
It's actually all because of Apple, and more specifically, the Apple App Store. If the Instagram app wants to remain rated 12+, rather than 17+, then all nudity is a no-go.
So, instead of alienating younger users, they have to ban adult content and as Systrom says himself "make some tough calls". That includes banning pictures of women's nipples (except when the picture shows a woman breastfeeding).
