While it's important to remember to get your flu shot to help stave off any colds, multiple scientific studies have shown that having sex is good for immune systems, so don't be afraid to get frisky all winter long, guys.
In one study from Science Direct, sex is shown to reduce stress—which is a no-brainer and something we should all be more aware of. Related to that theory, a study from the journal Psychosomatic Medicine showed that, after following 51 German couples' private lives, both men and women had lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol during days in which they got knocked boots.
In another study from the journal Psychological Reports, results showed that people who admitted to one to two sexual experiences during the week had the highest levels of immunoglobulin A—an antibody that helps protect your body from infection. Unfortunately, in the same study, the more sex people had, the less immunoglobulin A in their bodies—which researchers believe is due to higher stress of trying to balance schedules and other tasks with sexy time—so keep it to one or two times per week, guys.
This is all good news, but just remember that, with each person you have a sexual relationship with, you're protecting yourself from other germs or viruses—so use condoms and make sure to wash yourself and sheets afterwards, because those things are going to get dirty.
