As with every single article we published about Game of Thrones: this post is dark and full of spoilers. If you haven't completed GoT through season 7, stop reading now. You've been warned, y'all. Moving forward — according to a new Game of Thrones season 8 theory, everyone's favorite character, Tyrion Lannister, is predicted to meet a seriously dismal fate, one of which is surely to leave Game of Thrones lacking in witty dialogue and sage council (should it be true).
Now, none of this is written in stone. It's a merely a fan theory from the YouTube channel, Alt Shift X, but we can't lie to you guys, the evidence is pretty compelling, take a look.
OK, so he isn't going to die (at least not according to this theory), but Tyrion's character is notorious for relying on his tongue, literally. If he's unable to speak, what purpose does he serve the series? In our opinion, it would be a metaphorical death. To put it into perspective, it would be like Daenerys losing all three of her dragons or Samwell Tarly no longer being able to read. Certain characters have defining qualities that without, well, they wouldn't be recognizable (or nearly as enjoyable to watch).
Naturally, most fans are to assume that Cersei would be responsible for cutting out Tyrion's tongue, but, c'mon, that's a little yawn worthy, no? The showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and GoT author, George R.R. Martin have become way too unpredictable to pull a move like that. If we had to guess, it would be someone who once befriended Tyrion — like Jon or Sansa.
