13 New Vampire Projects That Don't Suck (Hopefully)

They may not be as plentiful as zombies are these days, but vampires are ready for their resurrection, as proven by the ongoing popularity of TV shows like The Vampire Diaries, The Originals and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or the recent film Dracula Untold.

The good news for fans of those anemic characters is that there are a variety of new vampire projects in the works, both for television and film. For instance, author Anne Rice, who revolutionized the genre with her 1976 novel Interview With The Vampire, has announced that she and her son Christopher will be overseeing a new TV series based on The Vampire Chronicles. There is also an adaptation in the works of Justin Cronin's The Passage, the first novel in a trilogy; a TV version of the 1987 film The Lost Boys, and if you were a fan of the original Swedish film Let The Right One In, or the American version Let Her In, there is now going to be a potential TV series (going with the original title) that is shooting a pilot right now.

There's some undead animation coming our way in the very near future, with the Disney Channel's prequel series of Hotel Transvylvania and Netflix's Castlevania (based on the video game franchise). Also, an Off-Broadway show is coming to the big screen courtesy of Nicole Kidman, as is an adaptation of the vampire webseries Carmilla. True Blood author Charlaine Harris' Midnight, Texas is coming to NBC and bringing along vampires among other supernatural being; and there could very well be a new television take on Bram Stoker's Dracula, which is exciting largely because of the people involved with it.

So put aside your vials of holy water, take down the garlic you've hung on the walls of your home (yes, that's what you were smelling... at least that's what we think it was) and dispose of those stakes. Don't worry about the vampires we're about to introduce you to. They don't bite....
