FHM’s 100 Greatest Games of All Time

Advance Wars

Year: 2002
Platform: Game Boy Advance

Why it’s a classic: Getting kids excited about turn-based strategy games isn’t easy. And though not over-simplified, Nintendo’s war sim was brilliantly accessible. So much so, that back at the start of the decade there was no shortage of eight-year-olds waiting to take you on. And win.

Best bit: Luring foes into artillery range by sending an infantry unit to certain death. Then avenging them, mightily.
