The enemy: In the ten years between this and its predecessor, PC graphics came along mightily. Which meant no more 2D bosses throwing blocky fireballs. Oh no. This time round you’re facing off against all manner of terrifying, perfectly-rendered beasts.
Weapon of choice: A beefed-up version of the original Doom’s BFG will see off a room full of foes in a single blast. And luckily, you’re not the one cleaning up.
Brown trousers moment: Meeting the final boss. A 20-feet tall horned beast with massive teeth and a very bad temper. And a cannon for a right arm. Just for good measure.
