FHM’s 100 Greatest Games of All Time

Mortal Kombat

Year: 1992
Platform: Mega Drive

Why it's a classic: Back before disemboweling was a commonplace digital past-time, Midway's iconic fighter shocked the world with its depiction of actual (albeit highly pixellated and slightly ridiculous) blood. The addition of limb-shredding fatality moves made sure hardly any homework got done in the early nineties.

Best bit: Battering an under-skilled challenger to a flawless victory. Then ripping their spine out/burning them alive/feeding them their own balls.
